New Book – Ari Marcopoulos: Not Yet
This new book chronicles NYC’s stimulating subcultures from skaters to celebrated artists and everything in between
Hailing from Holland, maverick shutterbug Ari Marcopoulos made his way to NYC in the eighties and immediately began chronicling the City’s thrumming cultural milieu. His newest book, Ari Marcopoulos: Not Yet, provides insanely cool (a few never-before-published) images of people like Spike Lee, Beastie Boys, Jay Z (Ari shot the album cover of Magna Carta…Holy Grail in 2013), Andy Warhol, Matthew Barney, Kara Walker and the Zoo York skater crews who colonized the underbelly of the Brooklyn Bridge almost two decades ago. Ari’s images are multilayered studies of the ways we observe and understand art, music, ordinary life, youth culture and everything else in New York. His new book is the bomb.
