Avant-garde Opera — Gareth Pugh
Gareth Pugh fuses virtual reality with greek tragedy in Goshka Macuga’s Antigona adaptation.
Gareth Pugh, fashion’s most frontline demi-goth, has already made bespoke gear for Eliogabalo at the Palais Garnier. Now he’s designing duds for a futuristic reboot of Antigona, directed by Goshka Macuga (who was nominated for a Turner Prize a few years back). In cahoots with dope digital arts studio Werkflow, Gareth’s sci-fi garments have been radically re-imagined and digitally re-mastered via 3-D CAD magic complete with cryptic/glitch-y effects, Voltron silhouettes and trippy avatars that toggle between cool quantum worlds and mythological Greece. It looks epic! Peep the pics below and go to Werkflow to virtually zoom and scroll.
