Cakes Da Killa’s 360 Virtual Reality vid
The brazen and ballz-out artiste Cakes Da Killa crushes it with his ‘Been Dat Did That’ ditty from his debut LP Hedonism. We’re crushin’ on Cakes!
Rashard Bradshaw, A.K.A., Cakes Da Killa, just dropped ‘Been Dat Did That’, a high-velocity, futuristic rap dynamo that incorporates Virtual Reality (VR) elements and an insanely cool aesthetic. Pioneering a niche space for himself (somewhat similar to Young Thug, Fly Young Red, Danny Brown, Mykki Blanco and rap collective House of LaDosha but with hardcore, contrarian qualities), Cakes boldly celebrates queerness, gender ambivalence, voguing and alt-everything. Hailing from New Jersey and colonizing the club scene with density and intensity, the rapper has amassed a fervent fan-base for his full-tilt, no–holds–barred ballads and sublime/queer/campy style. ‘Been Dat Did That’ (lifted from Hedonism) highlights a fizzing, dizzying mix of club culture, self-conscious rap smarts, techno savvy and avant-garde razzle-dazzle. Check out Cakes‘ Easy Bake Oven (2011), The Eulogy (2013) and Hunger Pangs (2014) next. We love!
