Psycho-killers, homicidal thrillers, ultra-violence and scantily–clad goth girls – DAISY
Renee Warne and Gibson Fox, two giddy up fashion designers behind one bang-up Aussie brand, DAISY, channeled Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and Richard Ramirez for their AW17 range.
Inspired by homicidal impulses, bloodlust, psycho-killers and culty film noir/vintage horror flicks, Daisy’s new range is romantic, vampiric, risqué and arousing. Gibson and Renee developed their adorable and dark AW17 oeuvre while absorbing audio recordings of serial killers in suburban America, and that prompted an interest in murder mysteries, female fragility and crafty criminality. “We watched some Jeffrey Dahmer and Richard Ramirez documentaries/podcasts and got obsessed with suburban horror figures from the late-70s and 80s,” said the deft duo. “Cape Fear-era Juliette Lewis and Amityville Horror’s dollhouse set were key references, as well as ‘damsel-in-distress’ figures.”
Exploring elements of fetishism, female vulnerability, lingerie/négligée looks, and 70s/80s interior design, as well as heavy metal, punk and goth-y motifs, this collection — and that sexpot model — is complete perfection. Great work, Gibson and Renee! We love!
