Gareth Pugh + Olivier de Sagazan + Nick Knight
The dark knight of Brutalist, future-goth fuses forces with SHOWstudio‘s Nick Knight to kick off London Fashion Week.
Tomorrow in London Gareth Pugh will stream his newest (anti-) fashion film for the launch of London Fashion Week SS18. We’re on the edge of our seats! Ever the attention grabber, Gareth has booked out the largest screen in Europe (the BFI IMAX Odeon in Waterloo) for what has been characterized as “his most ambitious film project to date.”
His dramatic haute-goth designs combined with cutting-edge technology are experiential and imagistic cyclotrons. Working with SHOWstudio’s maverick image-maker Nick Knight and performance-sculptor Olivier de Sagazan, Gareth was inspired by the concept of ‘duende‘, a state of hyper-heightened emotion famously described by the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca.
VIVISXN got its greedy hands on some stills from the film, and at first blush, they are as strange, strong and haunting as anything he has ever made. With blood, guts, mud/clay and body fluids galore, the trailer features some heinous B-horror antics, as well as a live human vivisection and a freaky-deaky dude saying “Eat My Flesh” before crawling into his victim. Fuck yeah!
