Hood By Air (HBA) releases last-ditch ad blitz before the progressive brand takes a break due to relentless Darwinian dynamics
In a dangerous Hobbesian fashion world of competitive tensions and forced change, where the law of the jungle applies and survival rests on adaptation, even the most frontline labels are forced into new circumstances.
Hood By Air (HBA) have just unveiled their brand new Spring Summer 2017 campaign, their last ad blitz (above/below) before the company prepares to press pause on operations. In line with the consistently subversive HBA style, the visuals feature a fusion of street, fetish and artisanal DIY to evoke the hybrid and pioneering spirit of the brand that was the epitome of NYC’s avant-garde. The SS17 range also features some of HBA’s most eye-popping and brain-boggling looks including those ridiculous double-faced boots, with pointy toes on both the front and back and garments with zippers galore. Shayne Oliver (below wearing chains), the big kahuna visionary behind HBA, will start working at Helmut Lang soon, another avant-garde heritage label that has been hacked and hijacked by Darwinian tics and corporatist taints throughout the years. We’ll be watching closely.
