Hardcore Holy Roller JJ Brine wants to jump-start the Apocalypse
Art world disruptor JJ Brine pushes avant-gardism, the Apocalypse and all things Anti-Christ in his over the top oeuvre. Welcome to Vector 4.0
JJ Brine is the overlord of Vector Gallery, a shock and awe multimedia platform, roving art party portal and unrelenting cathedral of the id. As an artist, he plays many roles, be it as the operator of an orphic cult, a media crackerjack or curator/anarchist/perverse genius entrepreneur. Thematically, nothing is safe from the ‘Crown Prince of Hell’s’ grasp, especially not sacrosanct, god-fearing and politically correct things. Key coordinates of his work are God (and the Devil), the art system, pop culture, ‘post-humanism’ and the artist himself, advanced by salty humor and the use of clever instigation as an aesthetic strategy. JJ is an expert at juggling art, avant-gardism, pop and provocation, and reveals them as socio-political-religious constructs with the sort of cheekiness and gall that only a few predecessors, such as Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, GG Allin and Damien Hirst, had hitherto managed. His art agenda involves an awesome mixture of vulgarity and vim, iconography and irony. At Vector you will experience hyperbolic objet d’art, ouija spells, neon demons and awesome astral agglomerations; it is an insane arcade of eschatological themes (End of Days theology), anarchical-opalescent detritus, dervish dances, Manson Family fiends, and streams of subversive symbology (“Satan is Change, Change is God” and “Cocaine Legion”, for instance) that will boggle your brain and sap your soul.
