Check out Nine Inch Nails (NIИ) at The Roadhouse on Twin Peaks
The dark synth band delivered a new track that elevated our dopamine levels.
The latest episode of Twin Peaks: The Return featured Nine Inch Nails (NIИ) deliver a rendition of ‘She’s Gone Away’ from their ‘Not the Actual Events’ LP, with Trent Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig on back-end vocals. Shrouded in eerie hues that made the industrial-electro band barely visible, the performance was ominous and mellifluous at once, with flashing lowlights and strobes complementing Trent Reznor’s growled and grim tones. Leather-clad and thick with angst, the industrial-synth doyens delivered a sonic knock-out at the Bang Bang Bar, the fictitious venue that showcases avant-garde acts.
NIИ’s masterful frontman is known for his enduring creative collabs with Twin Peaks mastermind David Lynch (Trent worked with him on the soundtrack to his 1997 film Lost Highway and David directed the music video for NIИ’s ‘Came Back Haunted‘ in 2013. The critically acclaimed song ‘The Perfect Drug‘ came out of their collab). The band is poised to make their live return this summer with a series of shows – including an appearance at Chicago’s Riot Festival, Aftershock, FYF Fest and Panorama, etc. They have also announced a new EP this summer – but haven’t confirmed an exact release date.
Anyway, NIИ joins a roster of real-life acts who have performed at the Bang Bang Bar, including The Chromatics, Sharon Van Etten and Au Revoir Simone. The band’s cameo has gone viral, and VIVISXN’s seratonin levels have been spiking all morning. Peep NIИ’s Twin Peaks performance below. Bang.
