‘Flohio’ – Fusion Rap
Flohio is the freshest, fashion-est and fiercest MC straddling London and Lagos.
“It’s about celebrating pluralism…from Britain to Nigeria, you don’t have to choose either, you can be both.”
Hailing from Nigeria, bred and buttered in Britain, rapper Flohio flits between South London, Lagos and everywhere in between. “I represent half and half, and rep both always”, she says energetically. The sound she originates is organic, aggressive and indisputably cool. Listen to her London-Lagos twang and lit-as-f*^k lyrics in tracks like “Fights” and her newest LP “Bands” and you’ll quickly be noggin-boppin’ to her kinetic noise.
Giving props to “SE16” and God Colony (Londoners will get it) and mashing up Yoruba with South East hood lingos, Flohio is the ruffian rapper with skin in the game. Her stage moniker, if you were wondering, is a portmanteau of her Nigerian name: “I’m Funmi Ohiosumah, but my initials are FL Ohio,” she clarifies. Anyway, we just love her caustic versus and vibrant as fuck style. Listen up…
