Simon Porte Jacquemus SS17
Simon Porte Jacquemus’ collection channeled Provençal folk culture, foxy peasant girls (Roos Van Bosstraeten and Hyun Ji Shin) and eighties nostalgia. Think Christian Lacroix and Jean Paul Gaultier with a touch of that post-CCCP irony that everyone from Demna Gvasalia to Riri has been pushing. Jacquemus’ range didn’t contain his usual avant-garde oomph with dramatic color-ways and oblong or asymmetrical shapes; however, he gets kudos for delivering a lovely and laid-back aesthetic with killer construction and a tinge of romance. The puff-sleeve piece, pinstriped jacket and triangular tops were our favorites. And Hyun Ji Shin looked seriously sexy in that semi-transparent silk number with high-waisted pants.
