Ann Demeulemeester x SERAX deliver dynamite home decor!
Ann Demeulemeester just debuted vertigo-inducing vases, fierce flatware and crafty interior goodies that will jazz up your living or work space.
After cutting her teeth at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (that’s in Antwerp, Belgium) in the late 80s, Ann Demeulemeester became synonymous with the Antwerp Six, a group of radical designers who disrupted the f^*k out of fashion and built a diehard cult following. Ann inevitably launched her eponymous label in 1996 with a razzle-dazzle, cryptically cool range, earning immediate critical acclaim for her deconstructivist and enigmatic designs.
Her streamlined silhouettes and elongated cuts evoke a sensual, emotive aesthetic that draws influence from Bauhaus, punk, Japanese culture and darkly poetic motifs. After two decades of basking in Goth-inflected glory and grand sartorial success, she exited the fashion game in 2013 (about the time the industry started to go into terminal decline) but dabbles in a limited range of design projects from her swish dens in Antwerp and Kessel. Factoid: Ann lives in the only house in Belgium designed by madman modernist and architectural maverick Le Corbusier (below – cool!).
One of Ann’s recent artistic endeavors includes a creative collab with Serax, a Belgian housewares maker focusing on chichi ceramics and affordable objet d’art. Ann x Serax made next-level, noir-ish ornaments for the home that come in the form of crystal champagne flutes, artisanal plates, killer tableware (we love the gunmetal knives and sublime chandeliers!) and perfect little porcelain pieces with blood red trim. “I believe that if you make something beautiful, sooner or later it has a way of presenting itself to the world.” The assortment is super beautiful and is certain to blow out in a jiffy. Enjoy the eclipse-like visuals below…♡
