LA Street artist calls out Hollywood for tolerance of Harvey
Posters claiming Meryl Streep knew about Harvey Weinstein’s sexcapades appear around LA – #SheKnew
The #SheKnew flyers and posters come courtesy of stealthy street artist “Sabo”, who has been festooning West Hollywood and Beverly Hills with the cheeky and politically inflammatory stick ups.
The images feature Streep standing next to the tawdry Tinseltown big shot emblazoned with the phrase “She Knew”, alluding to her awareness of Harvey’s countless smutty transgressions.
The provocative posters follow a Twitter spat between Streep and Rose McGowan, in which McGowan called out Streep for being “silent and complacent” and highlights her awareness of Weinstein’s systematic scurrility.
Sabo told The Guardian that he and his crew created the campaign to bring attention to Streep’s contradictory stance on politics and to highlight Hollywood’s abusive culture towards women.
The very visible posters were placed near Streep’s home, outside the SAG-AFTRA building, and across from the 20th Century Fox Studio parking lot. Along with politically-charged imagery of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Lena Dunham, the pieces are the talk of Tinseltown this Xmas.
Sabo, working with the art collective UnsavoryAgents, is well known for his brazen bombs and manic memes of high and low cultural touchstones. His artistic arsenal is snarky, subliminal and always irksome, especially to leftists, progressives and Hollywood charlatans.
