Stella McCartney’s new fashion film will bend your brain (and give you coulrophobia!)
Artist Philippa Price fabricates a freaky world of manic mutant clowns, cool visuals and a perfect palette.
Philippa Price is our favorite auteur and stellar surrealist artist with megawatts of wit. She and Stella McCartney have just released a snappy fashion film that will splice your nerves, excite your neurons and probably give you coulrophobia (fear of clowns). ‘The Uncanny Valley‘ takes place in some remote desert setting and plunges you deep down the rabbit hole with spooky-kooky clowns, psychedelic mindfucks and film noir fantasy. Amidst the backdrop of a Navadan nuclear test site, some no-tell [clown] motel, a defunct graveyard and narrated by a sobering and paranoid Cold War voice warning against ingesting cesium–137, this short is hair-raising, hallucinatory and viscerally-charged. Starring sexpot Megan Nison and Bradlye Soileau (Philippa‘s boyfriend), the piece showcases a few resort and unisex offerings, and is the first in a series of specially commissioned adverts (#StellaBy) curated by oddball artists who might be able to add some editorial zest to the brand. This film is fierce! See below. We love you, Philippa!
