Pinch Chinese – Sino-Savoriness
Pinch is our favorite food fetish and artisanal outpost/alehouse in Soho, NYC. 好吃!
There are oodles of noodle and dumpling joints sprinkled throughout the Rotten Apple – especially in and around Chinatown. But for seasoned aficionados of the style and downtown denizens of the grid, there’s no better one-stop shop than Pinch, NYC’s it-est, most scrumptious chophouse situated at 177 Prince (near Sullivan) in Soho. The menu boasts endless takes on authentic and hybridized Chinese food – delish dishes like fish dumplings, seared diver scallops, snow crab noodles and xiao long bao 小笼包 that will prickle your palette and burst your taste buds.
Headed up by Charlie Chen, the former chef at Din Tai Fung and global bistro pro who set up more than a 10 eateries in Greater China, Pinch is creating a gastronomical language for modern Chinese cuisine while conjuring a fantastical alchemy of culture and good vibes – a place where eating, drinking, thinking, nourishment and excitement merge.
VIVISXN loves the fortified fatty pork, crab’n’glass noodles, dumplings galore and wholesome whole sea bass. The Peiking Duck is downright delightful and there is a clutch of pedigreed culinary pros manning the woks and divining the entrées on the back end.
With a zesty artisanal feel and zestful, pan-Chinese edge, Pinch is the snazzily ornamented eatery for killer cuisine and dopamine-intense dining. Oh, there’s also a mind-bending sequence of metronome cat baubles above the bar that tend toward equilibrium after umpteen mezcals and toothsome ma po tofu.
We also love the gritty-pretty portraits canvased across the walls coupled with cool Chinese calligraphy 書法 and the complex whirlpools of wontons, motion, spice and life. Pop by Pinch asap – a tremendous treat, guaranteed! #177 Prince Street, NYC, NY, 10012 – Delivery, too!
