Paying homage to Dash’s crafty DIY style, SUPREME delivers limited edition decks and printed tops
For the Fall/Winter 2016 range, Supreme pays tribute to the late New York artist Dash Snow. Born in 1981, Dash became a top dog artist in NYC’s downtown hyper-creative ecosystem, when his graphic get-ups and graffiti — known as SACE — became ubiquitous across NYC’s concrete jungle. Part of the IRAK NY crew, Dash grew into a critically acclaimed artist doing unique work across a wide range of mediums — photography, video, hybrid installations, magazines, etc. His widely recognized sex, drugs and violence imagery, along with his frequent use of body fluids and other freaky materials, made Dash a controversial and cooler than now creative. He died in 2009 of a heroin overdose in the East Village but his artistic legacy powers on. “We’ve long admired Dash’s work and what he stood for as an artist,” says Angelo Baque, Supreme’s Brand Director. “He both embodied and embraced the true spirit of downtown New York which naturally made him part of the Supreme family.”
